A ten-year-old boy has been described as a lingo genius after it was learned he could speak 10 languages aside from his native Hindi.
Arpan Sharma, a primary pupil from Oldbury, West Midlands taught himself using CD-Rom, French, Spanish, German, Italian, Swahili, Mandarin, Polish, Thai and the Lugandan language of Uganda.
He learned Hindi from his parents.
Local reports say that Sharma learned Italian fluently at seven, German at eight, and Spanish when he was nine.
However, the lingo genius admitted it hasn't been easy.
"Learning Swahili was probably one of the biggest challenges I've faced and Mandarin Chinese was hard too," Sharma said.
"Arpan is a language genius, a natural when it comes to listening to an exact pronunciation and repeating it perfectly," said Deputy Headmaster Richard Lynn, of Blue Coat School, Edgbaston, Birmingham in describing the boy's ability.
But the boy is not keen on taking any profession related to languages. Arpan says he would like to work as a surgeon in hospitals abroad when he's older.
