A 12-year-old boy managed to fight off a mugger by breaking his nose after the suspected thug jumped from behind a bush and tried to steal his cellular phone.

The mugger was mistaken when he thought the young boy would be an easy target for him, only to find out seconds later that he had met his match in the struggle.

According to Ananova.com, a spokesperson for Somerset police says of the fight: "The boy said he was bleeding and heard the man's nose crack, so there's a good chance he broke it.

"We don't know how old the offender is, but he drove off in a car so presumably he must be at least 17."

The boy, though, is said to be fine.
