A 13-year-old girl has beaten three grown men by eating 26 corn cobs in 20 minutes and became this year's Britain's corn on the cob eating champion. But the girl said she will definitely not defend her title next year.
According to the Mirror, Emily Cotterill, from Rainhill, Merseyside in England, replaced her father in the contest at the last minute because her daddy backed out of the competition.
The schoolgirl said she just tried to eat as many cobs and as fast as she could even while seeing her much bigger male opponents quit one-by-one. The competition was held in Stretton, Cheshire.
Her mother, 44-year-old Ann said, "The men were all big guys. We thought our little girl would have no chance, but she just kept going."
She said, "After 15, I felt a little ill but after belching that passed. I won't be looking at a cob for a while and I'm not sure I'll defend my title."
Her father, Peter, 46, confessed, "I was going to enter but after seeing the size of the other guys I thought our Emily would do better. I was flabbergasted when she raised the cup."
