A 17.5-lb (7.75kg) baby girl was born in a hospital in the Altain region of Siberia. The baby named "Nadia" surprised her family.
"They were all simply in shock," said Nadia's Russian mom Tatyana Barabanova, 43, when asked about her family's reaction over Nadia's size.
The baby girl's father merely "stood there blinking" reports said.
The baby, who was nourished with her mother's eating potatoes, noodles, and tomatoes inside the womb, was born via c-section.
The baby's weight is said to be more than twice the average of a newborn weight.
The Guinness Book of World Records reports that the heaviest baby ever recorded was given birth to by Canadian mom Anna Bates in 1879. The baby weighed 23.12lb (10.8kg) but died 11 hours later.
