A Superior, Wisconsin man received probation Tuesday after he was convicted of having sexual contact with a deer carcass. Bryan James Hathaway, who pleaded no contest to the charges, would also be evaluated as a sex offender and treated at the Institute for Psychological and Sexual Health in Duluth, Minnesota.
Handing out the sentence to Hathaway, Judge Michael Lucci said that this kind of behavior was very "disturbing" to the public and court. The Attorney also added that the 20-year-old needed treatment rather than a jail sentence.
According to AP reports, Hathaway reportedly violated his extended supervision in February and now his probation will be served at the same time as a nine-month jail sentence he received then. He will remain in jail until mid-July and continue his extended supervision at that time.
The case came into knowledge in April 2005 when Hathaway was found guilty of felony mistreatment of an animal after he killed a deer with the intention of having sex with it. He was sentenced to 18 months in jail and two years of extended supervision on that charge.
He also faces six years of probation for taking and driving a vehicle without the owner's consent and was sentenced Tuesday in Douglas County Circuit Court.
