He successfully made a bid. Unfortunately for him, it wasn't meant to be honored. He is only three years old.

Jack Neal, 3, went on his parents' computer and made a successful bid for the Barbie pink Nissan Figaro on eBay for US$17,000.

His parents, Rachel and John, only found out about the car when they got a message from the internet auction site congratulating them.

Rachel, 36, said, "We couldn't understand. So we checked and saw it was a Barbie pink car which we'd bought for US$17,000."

Rachel said Jack was able to log on to her eBay account as she left her password in her computer.

"Jack's a real whiz - he's been able to log on since he was two," she added.

John phoned the seller and explained the error.
