A wooden dining table which experts have authenticated to have been made of wood dating back to the time of cavemen, is up for sale in London, England for over $13,000.
The table comes with a certificate of authenticity that it had been made from a 30,000-year-old wood from a Kauri tree. The wood has been carbon-dated to determine its age, it was said.
Experts said the wood was reclaimed from salt marsh swamps in New Zealand, where the mud and the absence of oxygen have preserved whole trees perfectly instead of allowing them to fossilize.
The dining table, which seats 10, was manufactured in Italy and is being sold in London department store Selfridges' contemporary interior space department, Loft Living.
Caitlin McCann, a furniture buyer at the Oxford Street store, said, "This table will certainly be the subject of dinner party talk. Whoever owns it will be dining in the grandeur of ancient history," according to Ananova news reports.
