The proverbial 400 pound gorilla didn't show up in any of Amsterdam's living rooms, but it was only because a gorilla that escaped his enclosure on Friday was captured before he made it out of the Rotterdam zoo. Instead, Bokito, the 1-year-old gorilla, made it into a restaurant on the zoo grounds, although it is unclear if he got anything to eat before his handlers finally captured him.

However, what is clear is that before he was cornered, shot with a tranquilizer dart and recaptured, Bokito terrorized visitors. Mothers - who threw themselves around their children to protect them as the gorilla ran past them on the visitor paths - have quite a story to tell their grandchildren.

But four people were injured including a woman he grabbed by the forearm and dragged behind him for some distance before biting her on the arm.

Diergaarde Blijdorp zoo was evacuated before officials finally subdued the animal. No one was sure how the gorilla got over the moat, the creatures don't swim or how it scaled the high stone walls around its enclosure.
