A homeless Russian man has become a stockbroker after collecting thousands of bottles.
Leonid Konovalov, 63 - who had spent 20 years living in a rubbish dump - has had an incredible twist of luck after he started collecting empty glass bottles and selling them on.
Making the most of the recession, he collected 2,000 bottles everyday for a year and sold them on for $0.06 each.
He said: "Russians are drinking a little bit more due to the crisis, and this helped me get out of the rubbish dump."
The former engineer was then encouraged by his two grandchildren to invest his windfall in the stock market, where he made a $74,120 share-purchase.
