A 55-year-old scooter riding woman was reportedly rescued from a trap six feet underground. The woman was driving the motor scooter in an open storm drain and became trapped in it.
She has no life threatening injuries and is recovering from the accident.
According to a report in The Miami Herald, the woman, who was not identified, apparently took the scooter out around 11 p.m. Tuesday and drove into an uncovered storm drain which was surrounded by orange barricades.
She then became trapped in the hole and could not get out.
Ignatius Carroll, a fire department spokesman told the newspaper, "It was actually a good thing that she got wedged like that."
"There is water at the bottom of that drain. If she fell much farther, she could have drowned."
