A hungry, a 6-year old boy decided to have a bite at Applebee's last Tuesday.
So the toddler took grabbed the car keys, put his booster seat from the back of his grandmother's car and placed it on the driver's seat, and started the engine.
He backed up the vehicle, but was then unable to switch from "Reverse" to "Drive".
The car, with the little driver inside, backed into an electrical transformer and communication box, resulting in the loss of power and telephone services to surrounding townhomes.
Broomfield Police's Sgt. Colleen O'Connell explained "He proceeded to start the car and started backing up."
"He went backward 47 feet, hit the curb, then went backward another 29 feet," added O'Connell, who was still baffled as to how the youngster managed to reach the pedals.
Upon seeing what he had done, the boy was reported to had gotten out of the car and run to his grandmother to tell her what happened.
It was not long before the Broomfield police arrived at the scene of the crash.
The police headed to the scene after getting a call reporting a hit-and-run after "an unseen driver had abandoned a car and left it running," explained O'Connell.
No charges will be filed as, seemingly sympathizing for the boy's stunned grandmother, nearby resident Nancy Hollis explains "I have five children of my own, so I know you cannot watch them every minute they're awake."
