A 76-year old woman having a heart attack was charged with a co-pay of $5 while being carried to an ambulance.

Barbara Antonelli, with breathing tubes attached to her, recalled a receptionist from the Staten Island Physician Practice telling her that she had to hand over $5 before the ambulance could leave the clinic.

Dr. Jack D'Angelo of the Staten Island Physician Practice addressed the incident, describing the receptionist's behavior as "inappropriate".
