A woman was arrested on the charge of driving under the influence Saturday night after a series of 9-1-1 calls made by her 8-year old son.
The caller told Clark County Sheriff's dispatcher that Paulette Lynn Spears, 33, was allegedly driving erratically.
"He said, 'I don't know where we are, and Mom's not acting normal,'" recalled Sgt. Randon Walker.
The 9-1-1 operator proceeded to ask the boy for landmarks of their location, as well as the direction his mom was driving. Afterwards, the phone was reportedly grabbed by Spears who reassured the dispatcher not to worry, and then hung up. The boy then called back afterwards.
"The mother kept interrupting the 8-year-old," Walker said. "It happened at least twice."
Walker also said that at one point Spears allegedly bit her son's hand to grab the phone away from him.
Spears was arrested at 5:50 p.m. by police at the Fire District 6 station, to which she reportedly claimed to be suffering from medical conditions while driving. She was arrested on the charges of DUI, two counts of assault, and two counts of reckless endangerment. She also had a 5-year-old child in the car.
The two children were reportedly placed with their aunt. Spears has one conviction of DUI, according to court records.
