A Chicago woman, who called 9-1-1 to complain about illegal fireworks in her area, said all she could hear on the other end was uncontrollable laughter.
Brigitte Biver called 3-1-1 on the evening of July 4 but the operator transferred her to the city's 9-1-1 emergency center. But all she could hear was wild laughter on the other end.
The Chicago Sun-Times quotes her as saying, "I have never heard anything like that in my life. This person was laughing uncontrollably. When she picked up the phone, she burst into laughter."
Biver suspects that the operator might had been laughing for a while and when she finally said that she would like to report about fireworks activity, she said, 'Ma'am, you're gonna have to call back.'
However, before Biver could ask her name, the operator hung up on her. The authorities call it as "unprofessional behaviour" but no formal complaint has yet been launched.
