Nine-year-old Johnny Wilson of Hillsborough, California swims 1.4 miles from Alcatraz prison to San Francisco for charity Monday.

The boy makes the swim in choppy shark-infested waters with rough winds for the Red Cross Katrina Hurricane Victims Fund. He managed to raise just over $30,000.00 for the cause.

Wilson, who was cheered by his classmates on the shoreline, says the toughest part of the swim was the beginning, because it was cold and windy.
