Lacey Washut's prized pig fetched a hefty price during an auction in the Central Wyoming Fair. C & Y Transportation bid $200 per pound for the 255-pound pig resulting to a record $51,000.
According to Washut's mother, Chaynee, the company failed to realize its huge bid and renegotiating with 4-H officials to lower the price.
"It's kind of sad," Chaynee Washut told the AP. "There's rumors floating around that C & Y are refusing to pay, and that's just not the situation."
The average price for a pig is $4 to $6 a pound.
Lacey, 9, was given the pig by her friends which she fattened up for for the fair.
Her mother said Lacey was just concerned that she had wished to donate a portion of her sale for building a new swine barn at the fairgrounds.
Chaynee says, "After Lacey found out she'd be getting less, she said, 'I can still donate some of my money, can't I?'"
