A 94-year-old woman not only defeated her age but also her handicap of poor vision when she bowled a score of 244. The stellar bowler was only able to bowl after catching a glimpse of the floor, which enables her to see where to line up with the lane.
Esther Medley of Centralia is legally blind and is unable to see straight ahead but this has not stopped her ambition to bowl.
AP reports Medley is aided by her 86-year-old husband Ralph who instructs her which pins are left after her first ball strikes the pins. This team work is what allowed her to reach a grand score of 244 recently.
Her score included eight strikes, at Fairway Lanes in Centralia and was the second-highest score of the year for her league.
The Medley couple have been bowling in the senior league since 1979.
