A 94-year-old woman from Greater Manchester had to spend several sleepless nights worrying for her life after she received a letter from Spain that warned her of facing "execution" if she does not pay nearly Ł17,000 ($33,282.6) into an off-shore bank account.
The elderly woman, who received the letter on December 23rd, said it was from Harpreet Sanhdu & Co, an "international security and assassination firm."
The letter threatened the woman by saying that the firm had a client who wanted her dead and had paid a large sum of money for her execution.
The woman was asked to pay the huge sum of money in next 96 hours into a foreign bank account and if she tried to act smart they had her under surveillance.
However, the woman decided to report to the police who said it was a cruel hoax and the matter is under investigation. The police also warned that any person receiving such a letter should not panic.
