A Hong Kong tourist was shocked when he found that a beer in Rome cost him $1,251.

The visitor was given his bar bill for his drink at Rome's most famous street, Via Veneto. Rome mayor's office said that beers usually cost as much as 10 euros.

The tourist was invited into the bar and was served a beer and was billed 990 euros.

The man told the Rome mayor's office that is investigating the crime, " When the bill arrived I thought it was safer to pay it. I was scared something could happen to me if I didn't."
