A Census Bureau survey reveals for the first time, there are more than 1 million owner-occupied homes in the United States worth $1 million or more.
In most cases, however, the "million-dollar" price tag doesn't live up to its connotation - particularly in high-priced areas like New York, San Francisco and Southern California.
According to The Associated press, homeowner Frank Fazio's new Manhattan apartment is close to $1 million, but with five rooms and about 1,050 square feet of space, it's no mansion by New Yorker standards.
Fazio says there's nothing about his apartment that says, "Wow this place must have cost a million bucks."
