ervelat, a favorite sausage of Swiss, is facing shortage. And before it totally disappears by the end of the year, meat producers have created 'task force cervelat' to save the national sausage. The task force comprised of scientists, industry players and bureaucrats is all set to address the shortfall of one of the sausage's main ingredient, the intestines of Brazilian cows.

Even death will not stop Chet Fitch from sending Christmas cards to his friends. His cards, with "Heaven" written as the return address and with his signature on it, were received by his 34 friends before Christmas or two months after Fitch died at age 88.

A police officer didn't believe the story of two men who were seen walking behind a local restaurant that had recently been burglarized in Appleton, Wisconsin. The officer approached the suspects, who claimed they were at the restaurant after hours to fix a toilet. However, the would-be plumbers were carrying tools of a different sort; channel-lock pilers, a screw driver and a flashlight, among other things.

Aaron Giles was just five years old when he lost his identity bracelet while playing in his grandfather's farm in Fairmont, Minnesota. Now 31 and a resident of Gloucester, Massachusetts, he never thought that he could still find a childhood memento - and no small thanks to the meat cutters of Olson Locker in Fairmont.

A Salinas sobriety checkpoint is reportedly scheduled to give away turkeys on Tuesday to drivers who pass the DUI test. The Salinas Police Department, in league with the Safe Teens Empowerment Project in Salinas (STEPS), will be distributing from 150 to 300 turkeys to motorists who pass the sobriety test that will be given at the checkpoint.
