De-Stigmatizing Condoms By Making Them Into Art

In an effort to de-stigmatize condoms, one advocacy group is encouraging people to make their own art pins using the contraceptive. Executive director of The Condom Project, Franck DeRose, says his group started a program that aims to get people more comfortable with condoms, particularly those who live in countries where the items are taboo. He tells Reuters, "There's a great need to de-stigmatize condoms around the world, especially in Africa. "

Five-Star Hotel Uses Worms to Cut Down on Waste

Worms have a room of their at one plush hotel in South Africa. The five-star Mount Nelson uses red wrigglers or tiger worms to eat scrap food and in turn, the worms produce rich compost and fertilizer. Their fluid excrement is called "worm tea" and is harvested to be used as a fertilizer in the hotel's gardens. The worm's other by-product is vermicast, a rich compost.

Denmark is the happiest country in the world, a British scientist who has prepared a world map of happiness has claimed. While Burundi in Africa is the most unhappy as per the map produced by Adrian White, Analytic Social Psychologist at the University of Leicester. According to the study, the research based its view on the fact that happiness is found to be most closely associated with health, followed by wealth and education.

Carcass Of Large Whale Will Be Burned In South Africa

Conservationists plan to burn the carcass of a 47-foot whale that washed onto a beach near Cape Town, South Africa. Officials are unsure how the 34-ton southern right whale died. Its body washed up onto Kommetjie beach, located about 25 miles south of Cape Town.

Men in northern South Africa turn to nature when seeking to achieve the effects of the male impotency drug Viagra. The root of the wild Mpesu tree (Securidaca Longepeduculata) found in the villages of the Venda district near the Kruger National Park along the border with Zimbabwe is said to be the source. The compound extracted from its root and consumed with tea and other traditional drinks has been shown to relax the muscles of the male sex organs, sending a rush of blood that results in enhanced erections.
