British daily The Guardian has reported the end of the longest speech in British legal history ended Wednesday.

Nicholas Stadlen, a top British lawyer for the Bank of England, finally sat down after making the final statements of his 119 day long opening argument in a London courtroom.

According to The Guardian report, Stadlen spent the past few months delivering his opening remarks from 125 files in the central bank's defence of a multi-million pound compensation claim by creditors to collapsed bank BCCI.

Stadlen's speech breaks last year's record set by his rival in the same case, Gordon Pollock, who spent 73 days setting out his client's case in London's Royal Courts of Justice, the daily said.

Trial is reported to resume on June 13th with the first two defense witnesses being called to testify.
