After being suspected for being drunk on sea algae, four pelicans were being tested Saturday at a Southern California wildlife center.

Reportedly, after a pelican struck a vehicle's windshield on a nearby coast road, three other pelicans were found walking dazed in the streets of Laguna Beach.

The pelican, that struck the vehicle's windshield, suffered internal injuries and a long gash in its pouch.

Wildlife Care Center officials stated that the birds may have been under the influence of algae in the ocean. The algae could produce domoic acid poisoning when eaten.

After assistant wildlife director Lisa Birkle warned the public to be on the outlook for birds acting "drunk," the other pelicans were rounded up.
