Kenyan prophetess Lucy Nduta, who is a self-proclaimed AIDS healer, was produced before court on charges of allegedly obtaining money (Sh1. 6 million) from six people after telling them that they would be cured of HIV/AIDS through prayers. According to The East African Standard, Margaret Muigai, Nairobi's Principal Magistrate, denied her bail and said that: "She has a constitutional right, but police officers are entitled to investigate the new complaints. "

Canadian police and health officials searched on Tuesday for a thief who made off with vials of HIV-contaminated blood plasma from a Vancouver hospital. The thief pried open a locked freezer at a laboratory at St. Paul's Hospital during the weekend and removed the 19 vials that were marked with the lettering "HIV VL" and labeled with the patients' names, Reuters reported.

The Brazilian Health Ministry will hand out 25 million free condoms during the country's Carnival holidays in an effort to encourage safe sex. The government's anti-AIDS program will distribute the condoms at health clinics and in public squares and dances, reports Reuters.

Six teenagers are arrested on drug charges after a parent flips through a cell phone to discover a text message and photo advertising a pound of marijuana for sale. Police say Farmington teens would call teens in Shrewsbury, Mass. to arrange a drug sale. The teens in Mass. would then allegedly use the phones to take pictures of the product and send them to Connecticut.

While customers in India are captive in their barbers' chairs, they may receive advice on preventing AIDS. The country has trained some 10,000 barbers in sterilizing their instruments and promoting condom use. According to the Associated Press, they have been equipped with condoms and pamphlets on AIDS prevention.
