The Air Force has reversed its earlier statement denying that any military aircraft flew over Texas on the evening of Jan. 8. The denial led people to believe that the planes, with their glowing lights, were alien spaceships or so-called unidentified flying objects (UFOs).

CNN on Wednesday reported that the Air Force Reserve Command Public Affairs issued a statement saying their initial report denying activity was a mistake.

The Air Force Reserve now says ten F-16 jet fighters on a nighttime flight training flew over the Brownwood Military Operating Area near Stephenville on Jan. 8. The jets were in the area between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m., the time people reported seeing the lights.

The Air Force Reserve said the F-16s belong to the Joint Reserve Base Naval Air Station in Fort Worth, Texas.
