The Broward Sheriff's Office says a passenger aboard a delayed Continental Airlines flight from Ft. Lauderdale to Newark became agitated, opened the door and jumped onto the tarmac.
Troy Anthony Rigby, 28, ran toward the front of Flight 408 as it taxied to the runway at about 5:15 p.m. He banged on the cockpit door, the front door and the door in the food galley.
Passengers and crew were quick to try and stop him. In the ensued melee, one passenger was bitten on the hand and possibly broke the other.
The crew depressurized the plane so Rigby could open the front door.
Rigby was taken to Broward General Medical Center and faces charges of criminal mischief, criminal trespassing, misdemeanor battery, resisting arrest with violence and battery on a law enforcement officer.
