More than 51 million drivers are expected to hit the roads this holiday season, a 1. 7 percent increase from last year. And although gasoline prices are up, transportation analysts expect record traffic on the nation's highways and airports as Christmas approaches. In many states, like Massachusetts, police will crack down on holiday drunks behind the wheel.

A Mexican man is behind bars in federal custody after witnesses said he lunged toward the cockpit during a flight from Los Angeles to Honolulu Saturday night. Passengers arriving on Saturday night's Northwest Airlines flight told authorities they were scared when Santiago Lol Tizol, 37, raged through the aisles, ignoring the flight crew and threatening to kill a baby.

Pilots diverted a United Airlines flight traveling from Orlando, Florida to Washington, D. C. , after a passenger lit a cigarette and urinated in the aisle. He's been identified as Mark McGovern. A United Airlines spokeswoman says flight attendants noticed McGovern appeared drunk not long after the plane left Orlando.
