Kosuke Yasue, 42, a pilot at All Nippon Airlines, which is Japan's second-ranked carrier, is suspected of taking six flight operation manuals, including one for Boeing B747-400s, from a study room used by the airlines staff at Tokyo's Haneda Airport in January. Police say Yasue was arrested on suspicion of stealing jumbo jet flight operation manuals and flight crew uniforms.

An intern flight instructor and his teacher forget to put down the landing gear of the twin-engine plane they were flying and it crash lands on its belly at the Eastman-Dodge airport in Georgia. The Georgia Aviation Technical College plane slid to a halt after scraping down the runway around 12:45 p. m. Wednesday, Eastman Fire Chief Carl Johnson says to The Associated Press.

The Washington Post reports a former Army National Guard reservist is sentenced to eight years in prison after he admits to stealing nearly 1,000 suitcases from Washington-area airports. The report indicates Derrick Kysar was assigned to guard Reagan National Airport following the Sept. 11 terrorist attack. During that time, he stole $2 million worth of medicine, clothing and other personal items.
