Toronto Has Wettest Summer In 70 Years

The city of Toronto logged 2008 as its wettest summer in seven decades. On midnight Saturday, the city's rainfall for June 1 to Aug 9 had amounted to 1. 16 feet (354. 2 millimeters) and broken the previous record of 1. 10 feet (335. 9 mm) set in 1986 during two months.

Israeli Parents Leave 4-Yr-Old Daughter At Ben-Gurion Airport

An Israeli ultra-Orthodox Jewish couple is facing possible charges of negligence after leaving behind their four-year-old daughter at the Ben-Gurion airport in Israel on Sunday to take a vacation in Paris, France. Airport investigators said the couple, whose names were being withheld, were late for their flight to Paris on Sunday and rushed to the gate with their five children. Because of their mad dash to the gate, the parents forgot about their four-year-old daughter and learned she was missing after being told about it by flight attendants in mid-air.

Climate Change Protester Sticks Hand With Superglue On U.K. Prime Minister's Sleeve

A climate change activist stuck his hand smeared with superglue on to the sleeve of British Prime Minister Gordon Brown during their meeting Tuesday to protest the government's expansion of the country's premier airport. Dan Glass, 24, and a member of the campaign group Plane Stupid, committed the stunt inside Brown's office at 10 Downing Street while receiving an award for campaigners from the prime minister.

Amsterdam Airport Runway Closed Because Of WWII Bomb

The runway of Schiphol Airport in Amsterdam has been closed due to the discovery of an unexploded WWII bomb during excavations on Monday. The 500-pound British bomb has been unearthed in the nearby town of Vijfhuizen which forced the closure of one of the five runways of the airport.

Colorado Men Use Tasers To Settle Parking Dispute

While Canada reviews the use of Tasers arising from the death of a Polish migrant zapped by a stun gun at the Vancouver airport, two Colorado men tried to settle a parking lot argument using Tasers. Harvey Epstein, co-owner of Mamacitas restaurant and Casey Dane, a supervisor with Colorado Security Services, hit each other with Taser guns over an argument after Dane clamped the wheel of a vehicle parked behind the Epstein's eatery.
