Ten people including three children were safely rescued by a fishing vessel in Aleutian Islands after being trapped as a volcano erupted, spewing rocks and ash.

According to U.S. Coast Guard Petty Officer Levi Read, 10 people were rescued south of the Okmok volcano on Umnak Island.

Read said the group used a satellite phone to call for help and was picked up by the nearest fishing vessel.

Read said no one was injured during the rescue operation.

Mt. Okmok erupted on Saturday. The mountain is in the western Aleutians, southwest of Anchorage.
