After two mild eruptions Wednesday that didn't produce enough ash to worry about, Alaska's Mount Redoubt volcano roared to life Thursday erupting with enough force to produce an ash cloud 65,000 feet into the air.
That was enough to disrupt flights in the area.
The eruption also sent a mud flow down the Drift River prompting a flooding warning because of snow melt.
Mount Redoubt's observatory is being staffed around the clock to monitor the situation.
