Police are smearing 30 bottles of sunscreen per day on an albino horse to help it get through a heatwave in the United Kingdom.

The Humerside Police force say they nicknamed the horse "Sunny."

It has a rare genetic disorder that stripped it of melanin. The horse has little or no pigmentation to shield it from the sun.

The officers appealed for help on the Internet, and a pharmacy donated five gallons of factor 50 lotion.

A police spokeswoman tells Reuters, "We have been so worried about Sunny, especially now the temperature is soaring."

Temperatures reached 86F on Tuesday for the fourth day in a row.
