India has finally come of age and finally abolished a 93-year-old law banning women from tendering bars and entertaining guests. The Supreme Court of India on Thursday annulled the 1914 statute, giving women the equal opportunity to enter bartending, one of the more lucrative jobs in the India's thriving economy.

fter chugging a liter of vodka instead of handing the liquor over to airport security, a 64-year-old man was hospitalized and treated for life-threatening alcohol poisoning. The man, whose name was not released, was at the Nuremberg airport in Germany when security officials told him he would have to either throw out the bottle of vodka or pay to have his carry-on bag checked as cargo.

The constant admonition for kids to eat their veggies probably will not be heard often in the Krishna-Avanti school in northwest London. The school requires enrollees to be vegetarians. The school policy is criticized by Hindus who find the strict requirement favoring the Hare Krishna tradition. The school's leaning toward practices of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness, more known as Hare Krishna, is not surprising since the movement's vegan followers are behind the school administration.

Gold Coast police on Sunday said they have fined a parent caught providing alcohol to a teenager during end-of-the-term school celebrations in Queensland, Australia. Queensland Police spokeswoman Melanie Loy said the parent, a woman, was slapped with a $600 fine.

Police were startled to find a 13-year old boy in the driver's seat of a car stuck in the mud at a local park. The father was sitting in the passenger's seat, and both seemed to be drunk. The boy's 41-year old father explained to the police that he let his son drive the vehicle, as he had too much to drink and was incapable of operating the truck.
