Husband Arrests Deputy Wife On DUI Charges

A 36-year-old off-duty Elko County sheriff's deputy was finally arrested on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol after she twice escaped her husband, a fellow deputy. The incident took place on Saturday when Charlotte Moore, a jail deputy was pulled over by her husband, Elko County Sheriffs Deputy Mike Moore, off duty while she was driving her 2004 Pontiac Grand Am.

Nissan Planning Sober Car

Automaker Nissan is planning technology able to detect whether drivers are sober. The techniques, unveiled in concept form, could reduce driving fatalities to below that of a decade ago, according to the car maker. One system under investigation is a gearshift able to discern the driver's alcohol level, emitting an audio warning if the operator drinks too much. Already, Volvo offers a breathalyser that won't allow the car's ignition to start if alcohol levels are too high.

Woman In Jail After She Runs Car Over Her Driving Instructor

It's hard to teach someone drive, especially if the student runs the car over the instructor after drinking. A 51-year-old man from Naples, Florida was hit by the same woman he was giving a driving lesson when she reportedly put the car in reverse and hit him, accidentally running over his leg. Victoria Hosner, 30 now faces DUI charges after running over driving instructor David Tanner. She also caused an estimated $6,000 in damage. The Naples (Fla. ) Daily News reports Hosner, who blew a blood alcohol level of . 146, well above the state's . 08 legal limit, was released from jail on $4,250 bail.

Massachusetts Doctor Suspended For Dozing Off In The Operation Theater

The Board of Registration in Medicine, which is the governing authority issuing licenses to Massachusetts doctors, has reportedly suspended a Boston anesthesiologist from the practice of medicine for dozing off during an operation. In December 2005, Thomas Ho admitted inhaling anesthetic gas while on lunch break on another occasion. The Board also added that following month Ho had taken a prescription drug that caused him to doze off. When he fell asleep he was the only anesthesiologist in the operating room at Children's Hospital Boston.
