An American Airlines plane that had to make an emergency landing at Kennedy Airport shortly after taking off from La Guardia Airport after engine failure Wednesday dropped shards of metal onto houses, businesses and elsewhere in Queens, NY.
AA flight 309 bound for Chicago dropped pieces of metal across several acres in Queens shortly after taking off from La Guardia at 8:15 a.m.
Metal pieces were found embedded in the tar of the roof of a warehouse in Queens. Some of the metal pieces were the size of a quarter and others were larger, according to reports.
There were no reports of injuries on the ground from the falling metal and none of the 88 passengers were injured in the emergency landing at JFK.
