An American experimental artist is scheduled to hold an art show involving the preparation of a giant salad to be served to the 300 visitors.

The artist, Alison Knowles, will hold the event at the Tate Museum in London. Reports say that the artist will be mixing, chopping, and serving the salad to the guest, with the help of five other museum employees.

The entire process, collectively called "Make A Salad", will be conducted with Mozart's classical pieces playing in the background. The event's intention is to fuse art with everyday life.

"It's a participatory event in every sense," said Noble, as quoted by the UPI. "The work of the chefs, the observation of the audience and then their chance to eat what they have seen put together."

The salad preparation will be done on a table, placed upon a bridge 25 feet above the museum floor.

"The salad is then thrown down to a huge vessel on the floor", Noble told the Times Online. "We will do it in order - probably lettuce, cucumber, carrot and then tomato."

Noble added that since the salad is meant to be big enough for 300 people, the performers will be tossing it with the use of oars.

"We'll also have a nice new wooden garden rake," said Noble.

The event, set for May 24, will be the next performance after decades-long runs, with the premiere being way back in 1962.
