The massive security force deployed by Argentina to stand watch during a presidential summit this week was ambushed Wednesday, by a surprise attack of food poisoning.
According to police commissioner, Daniel Rodriguez, at least 70 federal police officers in charge of guarding the beach resort hotel were overcome with bouts of diarrhea and vomiting after dining on bad lasagna at a nearby hotel late Tuesday.
The afflicted officers received medical treatment and were expected to be well enough to resume regular duties on Thursday.
The hotel is the preferred eating spot for the 700-strong police squad patrolling the city, but was closed by city inspectors soon after the incident.
