An ex-boyfriend sends his former lover his severed finger in the mail. It was attached with a menacing letter that said "This is my last chance to touch you," according to reports.

Corpus Christi Police Capt. John Houston told the AP that police weren't sure which finger was removed or how, but that it appeared to have been washed before it was mailed.

"It was a clean cut," Houston said. "It wasn't mangled."

The 32-year-old woman had since filed for an emergency protective order.

Police will not release the name of the 34-year-old ex-boyfriend. Neither could they state the status of the search for him.

This is the latest incident involving the couple who also reported an incident of family violence earlier this month.

When found, the man will be charged with Class A misdemeanor and additional charges due to the nature of the letter.
