Jerry Morgan noticed that the front windows of his neighbor's house in Parker City was shattered, and was shocked to see blood all over the walls. Thinking that a murder had occurred, Morgan phoned the local authorities for assistance.

The city of Minneapolis may get the snub from an annual fundraising circus because of an ordinance that allowed elephants to be included in the show, but prohibited children from touching or riding them. The ordinance touched on issues of animal cruelty, as well as public safety concerns.

More than three hundred parrots were rescued after Belarus border patrol intercepted a man who tried to smuggle the exotic birds out of the country onboard his bike. Border guards claim they intercepted the man just outside the border of Ukraine. However, the still unidentified would-be-smuggler jumped out of his bike and fled to a nearby forest when the border guards tried stopping him.

Police arrested a 35-year old man Tuesday on charges of cruelty to animals after he was found to have a 14-foot python wrapped around his body while strolling along a highway. Long Island's Suffolk County police identified the suspect as Curtis Dewberry of Wading River.

The Austrian Supreme Court denied a petition by a British woman to have her chimpanzee elevated to human status. Paula Stibbe, who assumed guardianship over Hiasl, a chimp who was left money by an unidentified benefactor to ensure his future after the animal house he used to call home went bankrupt, argued the ape should enjoy the same rights as any human child as Hiasl loves watching TV, playing games, on top of his being very affectionate.
