Rare Turtle Saved In Asia

A rare, endangered turtle is saved from likely boiling in a Chinese soup pot after wildlife officers and a microchip worked to save it from an ugly fate. Poachers nabbed the animal, belonging to a species known as "royal turtle" in Cambodia; its name inherited from the practice of feeding its eggs to kings, from a Cambodian river two months ago, and smuggled it across Vietnam's border on a motorbike, along with a horde of other common turtles.

Research suggests many animals copulate from time to time, without the delivery of semen, which has baffled scientists, as animal sex is thought to be solely driven by the need to reproduce. New studies, however, suggest males may be engaging in "casual" sex to encourage fidelity. Tommaso Pizzari at the University of Oxford and his team studied feral chickens, known for their promiscuity.

Passenger Jet Hits Cow Just After Landing

Always keep your seat belt fastened as the plane approaches the terminal! An Air France passenger jet, carrying over 196 people, struck a cow shortly after landing at Port Harcourt, Nigeria. A spokeswoman for the airline says the plane hit the animal, which strayed onto the runway just after the plane touched down.

Dinosaur Track Discovered in Alaskan Park

Scientists have discovered a track from a three-toed dinosaur said to be about 70 million years old, in the Denali national Park, in Alaska. According to an Associated Press report, a University of Alaska Fairbanks student first discovered the footprint on June 27, while taking a geology field course.
