An 18-year-old boy found by his father after being lost in the Amazon rain forest for six weeks died in his father's arms moments later. Jonathan dos Santos Alves went missing after becoming separated from friends. One report said the boys were hunting, another said they were looking for waterfalls while camping on May 11, the last day they saw their friend alive.

Villagers at a southern Philippine community reported that a ghoul has killed their livestock. Panicked local residents at Barangay (village) Lower Manongol in Kidapawan City, southern Philippines say that a ghoul, which takes a human form by day but turns into a blood-sucking and flesh-eating monster as darkness falls, was responsible for the killing of three goats who were seen without its inner organs, including hearts and livers.

It's impossible to know which side drew first blood. For as long as Wimbledon has existed, it has had to contend with the pigeons, invaders hell bent on dive-bombing players, leaving droppings on tables, and even taking a stroll on Centre Court. On Monday, tournament officials escalated the conflict by calling in special forces to cull the offensive. Wimbledon's usual security measures to keep the pigeon offensive at bay were just not cutting it on Monday. It was time to move to more extreme contingencies.

Several fingers and intestines were all that was left of a gamekeeper in South African when he was eaten by six lions. Authorities said the 49-year-old man was working at the Uitspan game farm in northwest South Africa Tuesday when he entered the cage of the lions to give them water.

California legislators are on an amendment and enactment mode, targeting principally the state's various driving laws. Among the measures under consideration are a prohibition on drivers carrying live animals on their laps while behind the wheel.
