Two playful squirrels caused power outages in two states Monday, affecting more than 1,500 customers and interrupting supply for nearly an hour. Squirrels are the leading causes of outages in the United States, next only to severe weather. Thus, power companies make it a point that these curious animals either do not come in contact with the lines or have no way of entering their facilities.

A one-year-old cheetah in the St. Louis Zoo escaped from its exhibit Monday, stumping zoo officials the day after as to how it was able to do so. According to zoo staff, the cheetah must have managed to go over a wall at least 10 foot in height, before arriving at a rocky area that served as a separator between people and animals at the River's Edge exhibit.

Two runaway pot-bellied pigs turned what would have been a simple chase into a 35-minute complete crowd pursuit, involving two animal control officers, two police officers, and two utility company workers Wednesday morning. The pigs reportedly ran amidst speeding cars and trotted across a number of streets in the west side of Davenport, Iowa. The chasers were apparently at a loss, attempting all tactics from cornering the two animals to just plain diving for them, unfortunately missing.
