Pigs are rumored to eat just about anything. But one German farmer's choice of feed got him in trouble with authorities. Police charged the 29-year-old farmer from the town of Frizlar-Haddamar with improper burial after he fed the corpse of an elderly family friend to his pigs.

A teacher who castrated a live pig in front of her high school class is now on the list of animal rights activists throughout the country. Protests began after People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals published accounts of the incident at Rosamond High School on its Web site last month.

A 10-year-old, 187-pound Red River hog named Willy who just lost his mate wasted little time in snuggling up to his pen-mate Nicole, a much taller and heavier member of the forest antelope family. The two zoo animals share a pen in one of the Los Angeles Zoo exhibits. Nicole didn't take to Willy immediately. The first time he tried to approach her, she thrust her horns at him -- a clear sign she wasn't interested in a relationship.

It may seem obvious, but Australian researchers say that tiger dung makes a potent repellant. The team at the University of Queensland said on Friday that tiger poo successfully warded off wild goats for at least three days, reports Reuters.

Officials at Avenal State Prison say they will be forced to kill over 100 cats that have managed to sneak inside the facility and reproduce. The cats have become a health liability for the prison, which is littered with feline feces and urine, and has been deemed unsafe to work in by the state.
