Zimbabwe's wildlife authority is stepping in to save the lives of more than 200 endangered black rhinos. Local conservationists say many species are at risk from rampant poaching by people struggling with hunger and rising poverty. Cross-border trophy hunters are also taking a toll.

Outrage spreads Monday as a picture of a labrador retriever is shown to have a large double fishing hook through its snout and reports of fishermen on French-controlled Reunion Island using live dogs and cats as bait for shark fishing. The island is located in the Indian Ocean and is frequently visited by the British Royal Family, including Prince William.
