A new 2006 calender is naughty, but the faithful may not find it nice. A German Protestant youth compiled the calender using 12 staged photos depicting erotic scenes from the Bible, including a topless Delilah cutting Samson's hair and a naked Eve offering an apple, reports Reuters.

New York City has many smells, especially on hot days, but when the city began to smell sweet, New Yorkers sniffed, took notice and became alarmed. Residents from the southern tip of Downtown to the Upper West Side called a city hotline to report a strong odor on Thursday night, which many described as maple syrup. The calls were so numerous that the city's Office of Emergency Management coordinated efforts with the police and fire departments, the coast guard and the city department of environmental protection to locate the source of the mysterious smell. City officials have run air tests and have not been able to peg the source of the smell, which remains a mystery. Jarrod Bernstein, an emergency-management spokesperson, says, "We are continuing to sample the air throughout the affected area to make sure there's nothing hazardous. What the actual cause of the smell is, we really don't know. ""It's like maple syrup. With Eggos [waffles]. Or pancakes," Arturo Padilla told the Times as he walked in Lower Manhattan. "It's pleasant. "

Thierry Bellisha, 32, and two colleagues unloaded all of their suitcases from Hossam Abdalla's taxi at LaGuardia Airport. All except one. The co-owner of Montreal-based Crown Ring immediately looked up but it was too late - Abdalla had already sped off, unaware he still had a suitcase worth several hundred thousand dollars in the trunk of his yellow cab, according to the Canadian Press.
