Two days before Germany faces Argentina in the World Cup, Argentina tax officials confiscated a man's plasma tv because of tax evasion.
According to press reports, it was the latest move in a shock campaign by Santiago Montoya, the top tax man in Buenos Aires province, to stop tax evasion in Argentina.
Juan Manuel Prada, a provincial tax official, says, "We've taken the plasma as a guarantee against the debt he owes."
Tax officials stated that they took away the tv because the man owes about $2,000 in back taxes.
Other highly publicized attempts by Montoya to crack down on tax delinquents have included sending letters to the spouses of the evaders and leaving messages on the person's cell phone.
