After his failed attempts to put off the fire in his bedroom by water and a window cleaner, a 19-year-old man from Phoenix, Arizona drove all the way to a neighborhood Wal-Mart to buy a fire extinguisher. Jonathan Zaletel was using a toaster to cook methamphetamine in his bedroom closet when the appliance caught fire. To escape the police's attention for fear of being caught, he decided to put out the fire on his own.

The neighbors of the University of Arizona are facing strange problem that includes small white rats that have been swimming through sewer pipes and into their toilets. According to Laura Hagen Fairbanks, spokeswoman for the county's Wastewater Management Department, they are the kind that researchers use in labs.

Even staying at a pricey Hilton Hotel and sleeping on luxury linens doesn't guarantee freedom from being bitten by bed bugs. Soprano Alison Trainer slept at the Phoenix Hilton Suites between Nov. 20 and Nov. 26, and said she was bitten 150 times and traumatized by the bugs who shared her bed. Trainer has sued Hilton Hotels Corp. for $6 million claiming it was a "horrific" experience that resulted in a fear of sleeping in a bed, caused her to lose weight and affected her physical appearance.
