Gold Coast police on Sunday said they have fined a parent caught providing alcohol to a teenager during end-of-the-term school celebrations in Queensland, Australia. Queensland Police spokeswoman Melanie Loy said the parent, a woman, was slapped with a $600 fine.

The police have expressed appreciation to the still unidentified car thief, who stole the vehicle in the Berwick petrol station when the owner left the engine running when he went to buy a newspaper.

A saltwater crocodile in Australia spent overnight in jail for troublemaking. Authorities in Nhulunbuy, Northern Australia were forced to lock the crocodile in an unused cell after finding no other options to hold off the seven-foot reptile. Police responded to reports about a crocodile harassing fishermen at a local boat ramp.
