YouTube postings of real life fights among Australian high school students from the John Forrest Senior High School in Perth alerted federal education officials, which prompted an investigation on the establishment of real life fight clubs in the school.
According to the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, male teenagers are selected and paired by the club organizers. If the students refuse to take part in the brawl, they are pushed or teased until they agree to participate in the fight.
The West Australian Education Department was alerted on the incident after receiving an anonymous phone call. Liz Constable, the education minister said, quoted by the U.K. Telegraph, "The perpetrators need to be identified and appropriate action taken, perhaps suspension or even exclusion... Violent behavior won't be accepted."
The video clips showed teenage boys hitting one another, while the rest of the students are cheering them or taunting them to fight. While the venues of the brawls were apparently outside the campus, the video showed the boys were still in school uniform, which made it a school concern, Constable added.
